Hemitrichia calyculata

Mature sporocarps

Hemitrichia calyculata and Hemitrichia clavata, below, are very similar species and intermediate forms can sometimes be found. They are both common in Clyne Wood and produce fruit bodies throughout the year on dead wood. Hemitrichia calyculata has a darker, more slender and longer stalk than Hemitrichia clavata. The stalk is distinct from the sporotheca, whereas in Hemitrichia clavata the stalk expands gradually into the base of the sporotheca.
